Anniversary Tours for Small Groups

In The Footsteps have led tours to many of the major anniversaries of the Napoleonic Wars, the First World War and Second World War as well as specific anniversaries of some of the major battles in American, Australian, British, Canadian, New Zealand and South African Military History. With the advent of COVID-19 the Anniversary Tours for 2020 have all be put on the backburner with nearly all being rescheduled to 2021. In The Footsteps Battlefield Tours are pleased to offer the following Anniversary Tours for late 2020 and 2021.

Battle of the Bulge

11 – 13 December 2020

The situation regarding COVID-19 remains under review and we will continue to monitor the situation. Currently, the Battle of the Bulge 'Nuts Weekend' scheduled to take place 11 to 13 December 2020 is still taking place and we intend to be there with our In The Footsteps^® Battle of the Bulge 76th Anniversary Tour.

To commemorate the momentous events that took place in the Ardennes between 16 December 1944 and 25 January 1945, In The Footsteps Battlefield Tours are pleased to offer you the chance to join us on our Battle of the Bulge 76th Anniversary Tour.

Join our weekend 76th anniversary tour of the Battle of the Bulge and attend the events and re-enactments that are centred around the 'Nuts Weekend'. Your first day begins at Hollerath on the German-Belgium border where you will see the Dragon’s Teeth of the Siegfried Line before following in the footsteps of SS-Obersturmbannführer Joachim Peiper’s Kampfgruppe as they drive across the Northern Shoulder as the spearhead of the German assault. Your second day is spent at one of the events commemorating the 76th Anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. In the morning of your final day you follow in the footsteps of Easy Company 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, the Band of Brothers, in the defence of Bastogne. The remainder of the day is spent exploring the re-enactor camps and military vehicles on display before heading to your agreed drop-off location in the battlefield area.

Dunkirk

The 80th Anniversary of Operation DYNAMO, the evacuation of the BEF from Dunkirk, has been postponed due to COVID-19. The Association of Dunkirk Little Ships decided to postpone the 'Return to Dunkirk' event scheduled for May 2020. The good news, however, is that this event will be rescheduled to take place in May 2021. We are pleased to announce that our Dunkirk Anniversary Tour has been rescheduled to coinside with this rescheduled event.

To commemorate the momentous events that took place between 27 May 1940 and 4 June 1940, In The Footsteps Battlefield Tours are pleased to offer you the chance to join us on our Dunkirk Anniversary Tour.

The In The Footsteps^® Battle of Dunkirk Anniversary Tour combines commemorative activity with a comprehensive tour visiting the battlefields of Operation DYNAMO. It will include the major sites associated with the 'Miracle of Dunkirk' including the retreat, perimeter, mole and beaches. Your battlefield historian guide will tell you about the momentous events that took place and some of the stories about the men who fought the battles.

Your tour will include attendance at some of the numerous re-enactments, ceremonies and festivities taking place in the area, and much more.

D-Day

The travel restirctions due to COVID-19 make it very unlikely that the events commemorating the 75th Anniversary of D-Day will go ahead. With many events already cancelled, we have decided to reschedule our D-Day Anniversary Tour to 2021.

To commemorate the momentous events that took place on D-Day, 6 June 1944, In The Footsteps Battlefield Tours are pleased to offer you the chance to join us on our D-Day Anniversary Tour.

The In The Footsteps^® D-Day Anniversary Tour combines commemorative activity with a comprehensive tour visiting the battlefields of all five landing beaches and the two airborne landing zones. It will include visiting the major iconic sites at Sainte-Mère-Eglise, La Fière bridge and causeway, Brécourt Battery, UTAH Beach, Pointe-du-Hoc, OMAHA Beach, the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Longues-sur-Mer Battery, the 'Mulberry' Harbour, GOLD Beach, JUNO Beach, SWORD Beach, Pegasus Bridge, the Café Gondrée and the Merville Battery and Museum where your expert guide will tell you about the momentous events that took place on D-Day, 6th June 1944.

Your tour will include attendance at some of the numerous re-enactments, ceremonies and festivities taking place in the area, and, adding flavour to these commemorative activities, there will be a vast array of World War II vehicles on display and in motion, plus parachute jumps, air shows and much more.

Battle of Waterloo

To commemorate the momentous events that took place on the Mont St Jean Ridge near Waterloo on 18 June 1815, In The Footsteps Battlefield Tours are pleased to offer you the chance to join us on our Battle of Waterloo Anniversary Tour.

The In The Footsteps^® Waterloo Anniversary Tour combines commemorative activity with a comprehensive tour visiting the battlefields of the Waterloo Campaign. It will include the major sites associated with the battles of 'The Hundred Days' at Ligny, Quatre Bras and Mont St Jean where Napoleon fought to defeat Blücher's Prussians and Wellington's Anglo-Allied Army. You will visit Napoleon's Command Post on 16 June 1815 at Flerus Mill and the battlefield locations most associated with his last great victory over Blücher's Prussians at the Battle of Ligny, the crossroads at Quatre Bras and sites associated with Marshal Ney's clash with the Anglo-Allied Army under the Prince of Orange, and the iconic sites of the Waterloo battlefield: The Butte du Lion, Hougoumont, The Waterloo Elm, La Haye Sainte, Papelotte Farm, La Belle Alliance, Plancenoit and Napoleon's headquarters the night before the battle at La Caillou. Your battlefield historian guide will tell you about the momentous events that took place and some of the stories about the men who fought the battles.
