Jo Hook entered the world of battlefield touring having as a youngster listened to her father's
Second World War stories and her mother's memories of living through the blitz in London. She also
conducted tours for military units when she served within the Royal Corps of Signals as a reservist for
eighteen years.
With a view to progressing her career as a battlefield guide she joined the Guild of Battlefield Guides
in 2006 and achieved accredited status within the Guild of Battlefield Guides in October 2010. She
proudly holds badge number 48. She also has a Masters Degree in First World War studies.
Consequently, Jo has fifteen years' experience as a Battlefield Guide and has undertaken tours both
covering the Western Front and Gallipoli in relation to the First World War and for the Second World war
covering areas of Dunkirk, the Battle of Britain, the Normandy Campaign and Operation Market Garden. She
has experience in working with a diversity of clients including schools and adults (UK, Australian,
American and Canadians) and has also worked with military groups including cadets, and Regular and
Reserve forces undertaking battlefield studies and staff rides.
Together with experience gained as a battlefield guide, she is fully experienced in the various facets
of tour management, health and safety and regulations pertaining to schools tours.
She especially enjoys guiding in the Netherlands (Operation Market Garden) Normandy and the Western
Front and has extensive experience working with both British and Australian clients.
