Robert Shaw has an MSc in Global Security from Cranfield University and has been an active battlefield guide for more than 25 years. He is currently writing military history books on the SAS, SOE and the Cold War and is an accredited member of the International Guild of Battlefield Guides (Badge No 106).

Robert spent 30 years in the British Army, where he gained operational experience in the Cold War, Northern Ireland, the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan working in support of Airborne Forces, Special Forces and Defence Intelligence. He subsequently managed security and intelligence training for the UN and NATO in Afghanistan, Libya, Ukraine, Nigeria, and Somalia.

Robert conducts tours of all the major battlefields of the UK (Ancient, Roman, Anglo Saxon, Norman, Civil War and WW2), Western Front (WW1) and North-West Europe (WW2 and Cold War), Northern Ireland (WW2 and Operation Banner), Italy, Crete, Malta and Sicily (WW2), Afghanistan (the Soviet campaign), Poland and the Baltic States (WW2). He has provided technical, historic, defence and security advice and expertise to National Geographic, Channel Four, the BBC and the film industry.

Lectures include; The Soviet/Russian military and intelligence forces from 1917 to the present and the threat from China.

Bob has three children that survived his fatherhood and enjoys mountain guiding and teaching survival.
