Follow in the footsteps of the American and British Forces as they face the German onslaught in The Ardennes between 16 December 1944 and 25 January 1945 in Adolf Hitler’s “Last throw of the dice”.
Join one of our team of battlefields historian on this four-day tour that leads you across the ground over which this epic battle was fought. Listen as they tell you about the momentous events that took place and recount stories of the heroic deeds carried out by the soldiers who took part.
Our In The Footsteps® Four-Day Tour of the Battle of the Bulge begins at 09:00 hrs when we collect you from your agreed pick-up location in London and drive to Folkestone to catch the 11:36 hrs Eurotunnel crossing to Calais. On arriving in Calais, we head to the Ardennes and check into our tour hotel. Dinner this evening can be purchased in our tour hotel or the local area, as you prefer.
Day two begins when we leave the reception of our hotel at 09:00 hrs to begin exploring the battlefields.
Our first stop of the day is at the Dragon’s Teeth on the German-Belgium border at Hollerath. Here you will not only see the Dragon’s Teeth of the Siegfried Line but visit the location of the foxholes that were occupied by the German 277th Volksgrenadier Division before the battle.
We then visit three locations associated with the US 99th Infantry Division before following in the footsteps of the German Sixth Panzer Army’s spearhead, SS-Obersturmbannführer Joachim Pieper’s Kampfgruppe, in their drive across the Northern Shoulder.
At the end of the day, you have the opportunity to see the King Tiger at La Gleize and visit the excellent December 1944 Museum before heading back to your tour hotel. The evening is spent at your leisure either in your hotel or local area.
Day three begins when we leave the reception of our hotel at 09:00 hrs to continue exploring the battlefields.
We explore the battlefield in the area where General der Panzertruppe von Manteuffel’s Fifth Panzer Army opened a massive gap to envelop the 106th Infantry Division, capture Saint-Vith and almost reach the River Meuse.
We will look at how the Americans threw up roadblocks in places like Parker’s Crossroads, the efforts of the US Armored and Infantry Divisions to push back the Bulge that von Manteuffel’s Fifth Panzer Army had created, and touch on how the British under Field Marshal Montgomery joined the fight.
The evening is spent at your leisure either in your hotel or local area.
Day four begins when we check out of our hotel at 09:00 hrs. In the morning we discuss the defence of Bastogne by the 10th Armored Division and 101st Airborne Division, and how General George S Pattern Jr’s Third Army came to their relief.
With our tour complete, we begin our return journey by heading back to Calais to catch the 17:20 hrs Eurotunnel to Folkestone. On arrival in the UK, we return to London and drop you off at your agreed location at approximately 19:00 hrs.
Please note: Itineraries are subject to change due to operational reasons. Any changes will be advised closer to the time of departure.
