Follow in the footsteps of XXX Corps and the Allied Airborne on our In The Footsteps® of Operation MARKET GARDEN 75th Anniversary Tour. Follow XXX Corps' route up Hell's Highway, visit the sites where the three Airborne Divisions of the First Allied Airborne landed to secure the bridges along the route and attend the 75th Anniversary Commemorations in Arnhem.

Thursday, 19th September 2019

Collect from Amsterdam Central Station at 9.00am.

Cross the North Sea Channel to the north bank to our tour vehicle.

Drive from Amsterdam to Lommel.

Tour Hell's Highway covering the advance of the British XXX Corps and the US 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions, visiting:

  • JOE's Bridge at Lommel.
  • Valkenswaard.

Lunch at Valkenswaard (not included).

Continue the Hell's Highway tour.

  • Son en Breugel Bridge.
  • Grave Bridge.
  • Overasselt DZ.
  • Klein-Amerika DZ.
  • Groesbeek.
  • Nijmegen Bridge.

Book into our tour hotel at approximately 5.30pm.

Friday, 20th September 2019

Collect from your hotel at 9.00am.

Visit the British Airborne landing sites and locations at:

  • Ginkel Heide, DZ 'Y'.
  • Heelsum, DZ 'X'.
  • Heelsum, LZ 'X' and LZ 'Z'.
  • Reijerscamp, LZ 'S'.
  • The Asylum, Wolfheze.
  • Utrechtsche Weg and Wolfheze Road crossroads.

Lunch near the Hartenstein Hotel Airborne Museum (not included).

Visit the Hartenstein Hotel, Airborne Museum that afternoon.

Tour the Oosterbeek Perimeter.

Return to tour hotel at approximately 5.30pm.

Saturday, 21st September 2019

Collect from your hotel at 9.00am.

Attend the commemorative Parachute Drop and wreath laying on Ginkel Heath.

Attend the Commemorative Service at the Sheepfold Memorial.

Lunch in Arnhem (not included).

Visit John Frost bridge and the surrounding area.

Watch the display of restored military vehicles “Race to the Bridge” at the Hartenstein Airborne Museum at approximately 4.00pm.

Return to tour hotel at approximately 5.30pm.

Sunday, 22nd September 2019

Collect from your hotel at 9.00am.

Attend the 75th Anniversary Official commemoration and laying of flowers by school children at the Oosterbeek War Cemetery.

Lunch in Arnhem (not included).

Time to explore the array of re-enactment groups and military vehicles on display.

Depart Arnhem at 4.00pm and drive to Amsterdam.

Drop off Amsterdam Station at approximately 6.00pm.

The cost of your tour

The cost for our 4-days / 3-nights In The Footsteps® of Operation MARKET GARDEN 75th Anniversary Tour is £1,295.00 GBP per person.

This price per person are based upon:

  • Two people sharing a twin/double room.
  • A minimum of 4 people touring.
  • Travel in a dedicate tour vehicle driven by our expert Battlefield Historian / Guide.

A supplement of £255.00 GBP applies where single occupancy is required.

A deposit of 30% or £200.00 per person, whichever is the greater, is payable on booking.

Booking indicates your acceptance of our Tour Terms and Conditions.

If you prefer a private tour just for you please let us know and we will put together a proposal for your consideration.

What your tour includes

  • In-tour land travel only.
  • 4 days escorted tour of the battlefields with one of our expert Battlefield Historians / Guides.
  • 3 nights bed & breakfast accommodation in a 4 star hotel in Arnhem.
  • Comprehensive touring of all the major battlefield sites.
  • All museum admission fees.
  • The opportunity to visit specific cemeteries and graves within the tour area (as agreed prior to your tour).
  • The opportunity to discuss your battlefield travel plans with our expert team.

What your tour does not include
