The Beaches of Normandy Tour

9th to 13th August 2010

Follow in the footsteps of the Allied 21st Army Group as they land on the Beaches of Normandy on D-Day 6th June 1944, the greatest seaborne invasion the world has even known, on our five day / four night tour of the D-Day battlefields.

The itinerary includes visiting the sites associated with: The American Airborne on the Cotentin Peninsula centred on Sainte-Mère-Eglise; UTAH Beach where Brigadier-General Theodore Roosevelt came ashore with the US 4th Infantry Division; The assault on the German Coastal Artillery position by the US Rangers at Pointe-du-Hoc; Bloody OMAHA where the US 1st Infantry Division and 116th Infantry Regiment of the US 29th Division came ashore under heavy enemy fire.

Longues-sur-Mer German Coastal Artillery Battery which still has its guns; Arromanches and the Mulberry Harbour; GOLD Beach where the British XXX Corps came ashore and CSM Stanley Hollis won the only Victoria Cross to be awarded on D-Day; JUNO Beach where the Canadians came ashore and fought their way inland; SWORD Beach where the British 3rd Division and Lord Lovat’s Commandos landed and the British Airborne between the River Orne and River Dives.

You also get the opportunity to pay your respects to those who fell during the invasion at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, Beny-sur-Mer Canadian CWGC Cemetery, Ranville CWGC Cemetery and the German Military Cemetery at La Cambé.
